Ownership was transferred to the NVC in 1961, where it has since served as the NVC clubhouse and local community center.
Secure parking is available at the NVC Memorial Hall, please contact us ahead of time to arrange for access.
A uniform and weapons are not required for the first few lessons. However, it is appreciated if you can contact us ahead of your first class so that spare weapons can be arranged.

Marcus Phung
5th Dan Jodo
Born in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, and raised in Perth, Western Australia, Marcus dabbled in Chinese martial arts from a young age before committing to studying ZNKR (Zen Nippon Kendo Renmei) Iaido and ZNKR Jodo in 2004. In 2007, Marcus moved to Seattle, Washington and continued to practice both arts. In 2012 Marcus met Thomas Groendal during the Jodo workshop at the AUSKF Iaido Nationals. He began training in ZNKR Jodo with Tom shortly after, and with Tom's guidance and encouragement, started the Seattle branch of Hoshu Dojo in late 2012. He began instruction in Shindo Muso Ryu Jojutsu under Goto-Sensei in 2013, and stopped practicing Iaido that same year to focus his efforts on Jodo and Shindo Muso Ryu.

Chris Dowling
4th Dan Jodo
Chris was born in Perth, Western Australia. After exploring several martial arts, he began training in ZNKR Iaido and ZNKR Jodo around the same time as Marcus, continuing until an unrelated injury in 2007 forced him to stop. In 2013, he relocated to Seattle, Washington, and resumed Jodo practice in 2018 at the Seattle branch under Marcus's instruction.
